Accessibility Statement
This is not a final policy. Information in square brackets requires institutional confirmation and legal review before publication.
1. Goal
The Museum strives for a digital space that is open and accessible to everyone. The design takes into account the WCAG 2.2 guidelines, targeting level AA conformance. This statement is a draft and does not constitute a certification of compliance.
2. Access Features
Features include a skip-to-content link, visible focus indicators, keyboard navigation support, Greek as the document language, alternative text for images, and left-aligned long paragraphs. Decorative animations are disabled when the device requests reduced motion.
Collections are navigated manually. Image views support closing with Escape, a visible back action, and focus management. The gallery supports moving to the previous or next exhibit with arrow keys. The FAQ and Museum history sections expand via accessible controls.
3. Assessment and Compliance Status
The final compliance status has not been determined through a complete independent audit. During development, checks are performed for keyboard navigation, dialogs, mobile and large screens, as well as automated tests. These do not replace testing with users and screen readers.
Date of last complete audit, methodology, assessing body, and approved results: [FULL AUDIT DETAILS]. Date of approval of this statement: [APPROVAL DATE].
4. Known Limitations and Pending Items
Photographs of archival records and covers are not accompanied by a complete transcription of their contents. Brief alternative descriptions and historical captions exist, but curatorial work is needed to produce full, extended descriptions.
Comprehensive testing is needed with screen readers, assistive technology users, and all zoom states. The physical accessibility of the building, the elevator, and other facilities have not been confirmed. Please contact us before your visit regarding your needs.
5. Reporting a Difficulty or Requesting an Alternative
If you encounter a difficulty, please report the page, the function, and the content you need. You may contact us at the published phone numbers. Destination for written reports: [CONFIRMED ACCESSIBILITY EMAIL]. No approved response time has yet been set.
The Museum can discuss an alternative means of providing information with you; the availability of any specific service is not claimed without confirmation.
6. Applicable Obligations
The legal status of the entity, the applicable Greek and European obligations, and any escalation procedure must be confirmed: [COMPETENT BODY AND PROCEDURE, IF APPLICABLE]. It is not automatically assumed that the same obligations apply to every museum.
